What to do when a death occurs in the home
If you need help or advice on what to do when a death occurs, get in touch with Callum Robertson Funeral Directors. We serve people throughout Fife from our funeral homes
in Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and Leslie.
When someone dies
When Someone dies at home the first thing you need to do is contact their own doctor or the NHS24 oncall doctor, if outside normal surgery hours. They will then come to the house and arrange for the Medical Certificate to be completed.
After you have contacted the doctor you can then contact us on our local office number’s. Our funeral director will call out to you home to collect the deceased(if required) and bring them to one of our Chapel’s of Rest.
Unexpected or sudden deaths
In some cases, if the death is sudden or unexpected the police may become involved and arrange for the deceased to be taken to a local hospital mortuary, before submitting a report to the procurator fiscal. This is no cause for concern as it’s part of standard procedures in situations like these.
We will contact the procurator fiscal’s office and keep you well informed of the situation and let you know when we are able to collect the Medical Certificate for you.

We also offer chauffeur-driven funeral transport
services. We are here to help you in your time of need, so feel free to ask us if you have any questions.
